Free WhatsApp Link Generator With a Pre-Filled Message
Create a correctly formatted wa.me link with a pre-filled message and put it to work on your site, profiles and print.
A WhatsApp link is simple in theory, but formatting the number and encoding the message by hand trips people up. One stray plus sign and the link fails. The free SeoSpidie WhatsApp link generator builds a correct wa.me link from your number and an optional pre-filled message.
For how click-to-chat works and best practices, read how to create a WhatsApp click-to-chat link for your business.
Step 1: Enter your phone number
Type your WhatsApp number including the country code, for example 91 for India. The generator cleans the format, removing spaces, symbols and the plus sign.
Step 2: Write a pre-filled message (optional)
Add the message you want customers to start with. Make it specific to where the link will be used:
- Product page: "Hi, I'm interested in the brass diya set. Is it available?"
- Services page: "Hello, I'd like a quote for home cleaning."
- Instagram bio: "Hi! I saw your Instagram and have a question."
The generator encodes the text so special characters and spaces work in the link.
Step 3: Copy and test
Copy the generated link and open it on your phone and on a computer. It should open a chat with your number and the message ready to send. Test it with a colleague's phone too, since your own number may behave differently.
Step 4: Put it where customers are
On your website, add a clear button labelled "Chat on WhatsApp" that links to your wa.me address. Most website builders let you add a button and paste the link in its settings.
Place it near the decision point โ beside the price on product pages, or at the top of your contact page โ rather than only in the footer.
In profiles, add the link to your Instagram bio, Facebook page and Google Business Profile.
In print, turn the link into a QR code for packaging, menus, visiting cards and shop counters.
In campaigns, the chat link itself cannot carry analytics tags, because it opens WhatsApp rather than your website. If you want to measure a campaign in Google Analytics, send people to a landing page tagged with the UTM builder and put the chat button on that page.
Step 5: Use different messages to measure
Create a different pre-filled message for each place you use the link: "(website)", "(Instagram)", "(flyer)". When chats come in, you can see which source brought them, without any analytics setup.
Make the button easy to find
- Use the words "Chat on WhatsApp" with the familiar green colour, so visitors recognise it at a glance.
- On mobile, a fixed button at the bottom corner works well, as long as it does not cover other buttons or text.
- Add your response hours beside it, for example "Replies within 1 hour, 9 amโ8 pm".
Common problems
- "Phone number shared via URL is invalid" โ the country code is missing or a leading zero remains.
- Message is cut off โ special characters were not encoded; regenerate the link instead of editing it by hand.
- Link opens a browser page on a computer without WhatsApp โ that page offers WhatsApp Web, which is expected.
